CiDRA Corporation Receives Class 1 Div 2 Certification for the SONARtrac™ Process Monitoring System

Certification to expand market reach of SONARtrac™ system

Wallingford, CT - February 11, 2004

CiDRA Corporation ("CiDRA") today announced that it has received an advanced Underwriters Laboratory (UL) certification for the Company's SONARtrac Process Monitoring System. This UL Class 1, Div 2 certification now marks the SONARtrac flowmeter "UL approved" for use in hazardous environments containing volatile flammable liquids, gases or vapors. As a result, this certification now expands the market reach of the SONARtrac system to include the large chemical and refining markets, whose industrial applications require this certification.

"We put forth a great effort to achieve this certification, because we have customers eager to expand their use of our products into hazardous locations," said Dr. Michael Davis, Principal Scientist, and Vice President of Advanced Technologies with CiDRA. "We will now add UL to our current TUV and CE certifications, and continue to work with our customers on their applications and certification requirements, so that the maximum benefits of our SONARtrac system can be realized."

CiDRA's sonar-based flow technology is a new class of industrial flowmeters, utilizing measurement principles that are distinct from all other available flowmeter technologies. The SONARtrac family of flowmeters provides accurate, reliable non-intrusive flow and sound speed measurement for a wide range of single phase, and multiphase flows. SONARtrac flowmeters offer the added capability of providing information on the composition of single phase and multiphase flows by detecting the speed at which sound waves propagate within the pipe. Measured sound speed can be correlated with high precision to the amount of air in the process fluid. SONARtrac flowmeters are available in "clamp-on" configurations that install on existing process lines, eliminating the process disruptions associated with installing other types of flowmeters.

Founded in 1996, CiDRA Corporation develops innovative instrumentation solutions for measurement, monitoring and control applications in a broad range of end-markets from photonic scientific and laboratory instruments to industrial process fluid control systems.
